A reported drive by shooting on Friday evening resulted in a non-life threatening injury for Robert Carter, a 19-year-old Sunflower County resident, and an arrest warrant being issued for aggravated assault against Terrell Hollins of Inverness regarding the shooting.
“It appears this incident is an issue from the Town of Inverness,” said Indianola Police Chief Edrick Hall.
Hollins was still not in custody as of Wednesday morning.
The gunfire reportedly occurred around 5 p.m., on U.S. Highway 82, near the Love’s Truck Stop as the 2006 Pontiac Grand Prix Carter was riding in paused in the turning lane to turn onto the parking lot.
According to Sgt. Irish Johnson, Carter was shot once in the elbow and the bullet lodged in his leg. Reportedly, Hollins pulled up alongside of him and fired shots into Carter’s vehicle. Johnson said Carter’s car suffered six gunshots.
No official motive was given, but both Carter and Hollins were named in an April 2018 shooting incident in Inverness.
