It is now crunch time for the Thomas Edwards High Tigers football team.
For there are but four regular season games remaining on the Tigers’ football schedule and each one is a Region 3-3A opponent.
All of which dramatically raises the stakes for reaching postseason play for the now 1-4 Tigers.
Beginning this last half of the season on the road, the Tigers will travel this Friday to Amanda Elzy High in Greenwood. Kickoff is scheduled for 7 p.m.
Fresh off last week’s 41-16 home-field loss to Rosa Fort High of Tunica, the Tigers will take on a Panthers squad which also owns a 1-4 record.
Last Friday night, the Elzy High squad dropped a 42-14 decision to J.Z. George High of Carrollton.
It was in 2019 when the Tigers and the Panthers last met and the team from Greenwood claimed a hard-fought 8-0 victory over the team from Ruleville. It was a victory which snapped a four game win streak the Tigers owned over the Panthers.
Historically, the Tigers also own a 6-3 series advantage over Amanda Elzy High School on the football field.
