There are a pair of critical Division III North soccer matches up next for the Indianola Academy Lady Colonels.
So critical are these matches that should the IA squad claim victories in both, they assure themselves the Division III North championship.
Perhaps just as important, the championship will also enable the Lady Colonels to play the host team on October 5 in their first round of the State 4A playoffs.
In next Monday’s outing, the Lady Colonels will celebrate senior day prior to hosting Lee Academy of Clarksdale at 3 p.m.
One day later a Tuesday trip to Kirk Academy in Grenada will conclude the regular season schedule for the currently 6-3, 4-0 Lady Colonels. Match time for this potential title-clinching match is set for 5:15 p.m.
With all of the above facing them, the Lady Colonels traveled Wednesday to Heritage Academy in Columbus for a non-divisional match against the Lady Patriots.
The results of that match were unavailable at presstime.
However, last Wednesday the Lady Colonels earned a 2-0 road and divisional victory over Greenville St. Joseph High School.
The IA effort received goals by Lydia Williamson and Fran Veazey to account for the scoring in this match.
The goals were set up by assists from Julia Davis and Williamson.
