Sunflower County Search & Rescue has been busy the last 48 hours.
According to SAR President Stan Bennett, multiple people have been reduced from high water, which has gotten inside of homes in the northern portion of the county from the Town of Sunflower to Rome.
"I Dont know number of rescue's because we were using a high water truck and boat,” Bennett told The E-T today.
SAR conducted a total of 16 rescues in Sunflower on Thursday alone, plus others in Rome, Ruleville and Drew.
"Don't know (the) number because we had to get them out. Some houses had knee deep water in them," Bennett said.
SAR spent Tuesday blocking off parts of U.S. Highway 49 at Parchman due to water being over the road making it impassable.
