A shooting in Indianola last Wednesday resulted in the death of 22-year-old Terrence Gerald, and now Indianola police have arrested Lakoya Antonio Cason Jr., 18, in connection with his death.
Cason reportedly turn himself in the next day and has had his initial appearance and a bond of $500,000 has been set.
According to Indianola police officer Sgt. Darnell Fisher, Gerald was coming out of a store on Front Street Ext., when Cason allegedly pulled up in a car and started shooting at him and a 17-year-old companion, who was not injured.
Fisher said an Indianola police officer was in the area on patrol during the time of the shooting and Gerald allegedly ran up, flagged him down and then collapsed in the street on Church Avenue.
Fisher said the officer got out to check Gerald and immediately called for assistance.
The case is still under investigation, but the initial indication is that Gerald was hit in the alley that runs between Church Avenue and Front Street Ext., by at least one of the 10 shots that were fired in his direction.
The Enterprise-Tocsin reported online last week, based on information we received at the time of the shooting, that a teen had been shot in this incident. This was not the case. We apologize for the error.
