Despite his stint being brief as Indianola’s chief of police, Markricus “Bo” Hibbler noted some improvements in operations at IPD over the past three months.
Hibbler reported some improvements in the efficiency of the department since taking over the position.
He was terminated Monday night.
He provided some numbers to The Enterprise-Tocsin this week, prior to leaving his post.
In July, the police department recorded 81 citations and 957 service calls, and for the month of August, the number of citations rose by 59% to 129 and service calls dropped to 811.
Compared to the previous months, July and August saw a clear increase in citations and a decrease in the number of callouts.
In March 2021 the officers wrote 50 tickets and responded to 963 calls. Then in April through June the numbers were 31 tickets, 880 calls; 52 tickets, 1030 calls and 55, tickets with 973 calls respectively.
Looking at the number of call outs from July 2020 there were 871 and in August 2020 there were 956 calls.
Hibbler said, "Call volume went down, and tickets went up. These officers were doing their job."
