The MAGNOLIA database provides access to journal articles, newspaper articles, videos, and eBooks. Learning Express is available to help with career preparation, high school equivalency credential prep, college admissions test prep (ACT, SAT, AP), and K-12 classroom skills and homework help.
Digital Learn is available to provide computer use tutorials. Newspaper articles are also available through our Online Catalog News Feed. Our Web Links pages provide access to informational websites. The library provides access to eBooks through our Hoopla Digital platform at (https://www.hoopladigital.com/). Take advantage of these vetted informational resources, especially as you gear up to go back to school.
Did you know that your library offers access to audiobooks and eBooks without having to use a library card?
The Library provides access to the statewide data base called MAGNOLIA which stands for Mississippi Alliance for Gaining New Opportunities Through Library Information Access. This database provides access to e-books covering all sorts of topics such as biographies, history, health, science, politics, and many other nonfiction topics. Information in books allows you to obtain more vetted information than what can be contained in an article on the web or journals.
Remember, not everything on Google is vetted or true.
This resource can be very helpful, especially if you are looking for in-depth information about a topic. Simply contact your local library for the access code and visit our Library website (http://www.sunflower.lib.ms.us/sunflower/about.asp) for the MAGNOLIA database online link.
You can easily enjoy books for all ages. If you are unsure about digital technology or how to use this database plan to visit your local library where staff can help you locate nonfiction e-books.
For additional information or assistance with accessing online resources or setting up your library account, please contact Gail Brinston, Public Service Coordinator, at 662-887-2153, Ext. 108.
