There are now only two regular season matches remaining on the Indianola Academy Lady Colonels soccer schedule.
However, both Division III-West matches are vastly important.
The upcoming matches will determine if, and what seed, the Lady Colonels will enter postseason play.
Next Monday will bring the first opponent, Greenville St. Joseph High School, who will be challenging IA for a playoff berth.
Scheduled to be played at St. Joe High at 4 p.m., should IA defeat the Lady Irish, a playoff berth will be confirmed for the Lady Colonels.
However, next Wednesday on the IA field, the Lady Colonels and Washington School will battle at 3 p.m.
Coupled with a Monday win over St. Joe, a victory over Washington School would enable the Lady Colonels to be the top seed from their division.
The match with Washington School promises to be exciting, as two weeks ago the Lady Generals from Greenville edged the Lady Colonels by a 2-1 score.
Meanwhile, the Lady Colonels have been busy this past week and owned a 5-7-1, 1-1 record upon entering their Wednesday match with Regents School in Oxford.
Results of that non-divisional match were unavailable at press time.
In their most recent play Monday evening on their home field, the Lady Colonels and Division II member Magnolia Heights School of Senatobia battled to a 1-1 deadlock.
A Carlyle Reed assist led to a Nyla Thomas goal to account for IA’s scoring in this match.
In other action played September 18, the Lady Colonels claimed another non-divisional victory with a 5-1 road decision over Lee Academy in Clarksdale.
