Dear citizens of Indianola: Last week marked a powerful and meaningful moment for the City of Indianola as we convened our first official board meeting of this new term; and my second term as mayor alongside five newly elected aldermen. I walked away from that meeting with a heart full of gratitude, hope, and expectation.
The atmosphere in the room was different. There was a refreshing spirit of unity, respect, and genuine collaboration. It was evident that God is doing something new in this season. The tone of our meetings has already shifted, and with that shift comes renewed energy, clearer vision, and a shared commitment to serve with integrity.
I have heard nothing but positive and uplifting responses from those who attended in person and from citizens who joined us through the livestream. Many expressed how encouraged they felt witnessing the spirit of cooperation, thoughtful dialogue, and sincere concern for the future of our city. When the people are encouraged, hope is alive, and where there is hope, there is possibility.
The Bible reminds us, “Except the Lord build the city, they labor in vain that build it” (Psalm 127:1). We acknowledge that every plan, every decision, and every step forward must be guided by wisdom beyond ourselves. We are committed to leading not just with policy, but with prayer. Not just with authority, but with humility.
This new board represents a beautiful blending of experience and fresh perspective. I truly believe God has assembled this group for such a time as this. Together, we are prepared to go higher in Indianola, higher in vision, higher in unity, higher in accountability, and higher in our commitment to serve every citizen with excellence.
We are stepping into a new season, and I am confident that the best is still ahead. Thank you to our board members for answering the call to serve. Thank you to our citizens for your trust, your engagement, and your prayers. Please continue to cover this leadership team and our city in prayer as we move forward.
With faith and expectation,
Mayor Ken Featherstone
