As the 100th year of Mississippi Delta Community College is being celebrated, the Trojans baseball team got in on the action, wearing commemorative throwback jerseys.
The white with red lettering honored the school’s original name — Sunflower Junior College. The team debuted them on Saturday when they hosted Hinds Community College at The Jimmy Bellipanni Baseball Complex. The uniforms were sharp but the Trojans fell in both games, 19-4 and 12-8. The Trojans later traveled to Booneville to take on Northeast Community College and lost both of those games, 20-0 and 8-1.
Today the Trojans travel to Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College for a Good Friday doubleheader starting at 1 p.m. They’ll be back on campus Wednesday, April 8, to host Holmes Community College.
The Trojans are 4-24 overall and 0-13 in MACCC action. In the MACCC, Pearl River sits in first with an 11-2 conference record and 29-8 overall. They are followed by Jones (9-2). Hinds and Northwest are tied for third with 9-3 records. East Central, East Mississippi, Northeast, Southwest, Holmes, Mississippi Gulf Coast, Meridian, Coahoma and MDCC round out the standings.
