With a preseason record of 4-8, the Mississippi Delta Community College Trojans are fine-tuning their skills and had an offensive explosion to close out February.
Taking on the College of DuPage in a doubleheader, the team lost 12-1 in Game 1 but outpaced DuPage 23-13 in Game 2.
The Trojans put up three runs in the first, five in the second, none in the third then three in the fourth, nine in the fifth and three in the sixth with 18 hits, 21 RBIs, seven walks and only four strikeouts. Trent Wood and Dowe McGowan each had a home run while Avery Rodgers collected two and also had four RBIs on the day. D.J. Temple, Wood, McGowan, Beck Wilder and Braysier Cox each had three RBIs while Connor Counts added two.
The team had two more preseason games this week in Cleveland taking on Northwest and Meridian. The MACCC schedule kicks in on Wednesday, March 11, when they host Itawamba starting at noon. For a full schedule, check out MDCCTrojans.com.
