The JUCO baseball pre-season has been filled with hits and runs just not pitching and wins. And the Mississippi Delta Community College Trojans will need all the ingredients to compete in the MACCC. Trojan Head Coach Luke Stanley has been on the road as his wet and flooded field needs some TLC and help – just like his pitching staff.
“We’ve swung it well and we’ve seen some bright spots as far as a few guys’ pitching. Just haven’t seen too many bright spots,” Coach Stanley said. “We’re still doing some work on the mound. We’re still trying to figure out who will be our starters but that’s going to work itself out. Practicing and seeing who will be able to do it. We have some that have stepped up and done a good job and some still need work.”
He noted that “Nash Kockza had a great game against Eunice (Louisiana) and he’ll get another chance for a starting role against Jones and ICC next week. I thought he did a fine job.”
The team is 2-9-1 so far and dropped both games to Eunice, 22-14 and 5-1.
The team played a double-header at Holmes Community College on Wednesday with Holmes and Coahoma Community Colleges. Due to press time, the ET isn’t able to cover but check our online edition, www.enterprise-tocsin.com for more information.
The team begins conference play when they host Gulf Coast Community College on Saturday, March 11 for a double-header beginning at noon. They then host East Mississippi Community College on Wednesday, March 15. For all things MDCC Trojan athletics, check out www.MDCCTrojans.com.
