Mississippi Delta Community College (MDCC) was abuzz with excitement as it welcomed over 500 high school students from across the Mississippi Delta region for its annual High School Day.
The event, held on February 27, showcased the college's commitment to providing accessible and high-quality education.
The campus transformed into a hub of activity, with students exploring interactive displays, attending informative sessions, and engaging with faculty and staff. The festive atmosphere underscored MDCC's dedication to creating a welcoming and supportive learning environment.
Dr. Steven J. Jones, president of MDCC, shared his enthusiasm for the event in a press release.
“We were thrilled to welcome over 500 students to MDCC today for High School Day," Jones said. "High School Day presents an opportunity for us to showcase our academic, career-technical, and health sciences programs, student support services, and activities. Our message is simple:
Students who are looking for high-quality education at an affordable price should look no further than MDCC; Students looking for small class sizes where instructors know them by name should look no further than MDCC; Students looking for a creative and innovative approach to teaching and learning should look no further than MDCC.
Students who are looking for student support staff that go above and beyond to ensure they have the necessary tools and resources needed to be successful should look no further than MDCC; "High School Day was a great success, and we have our enrollment management team to thank for all their hard work in planning this amazing event. I would be remiss if I did not take this opportunity to thank our high school counselors, principals, and superintendents who made it possible for their high school students to attend today's event. I look forward to welcoming many of our student attendees to campus this fall."
The energy and enthusiasm were palpable throughout the day. Students actively participated in sessions, asking questions and exploring the various academic and career pathways available to them.
The event served as a powerful reminder of the transformative power of education and the vital role that community colleges play in providing opportunities for students of all backgrounds.
MDCC's High School Day was a resounding success, leaving a lasting impression on both students and faculty alike.
The college is confident that many of the attendees will return as students in the fall, eager to embark on their academic journeys and contribute to the vibrant MDCC community.
