The Moorhead Central boys basketball team has achieved an extraordinary accomplishment. The team has gone undefeated in their district for two consecutive seasons under the leadership of Coach Curtis Stuckey and assisted by Quentin Brown and Tuke Brown. The Moorhead Central School boys basketball team is heading to The Mississippi High School Activities Association (MHSAA) Middle School Basketball Invitational, which is a tournament that features middle school basketball teams from across the state. The Moorhead Central Cobras’ next big game day is January 11 in Jackson. This major achievement has not only brought pride to the school but has also united the towns of Moorhead and Inverness in celebration of these young athletes' determination and hard work. The team, known for its remarkable chemistry on and off the court, has dominated the competition over the past two years, winning every game and securing back-to-back championships in the district league. The boys' ability to outplay their opponents stems from their intense work ethic, skill and unshakable bond that Coach Stuckey has instilled in them under his leadership. Coach Stuckey grew up in the towns of Baird, Moorhead and Inverness and was once a standout player himself and plays a key role in their success. "I believe in my boys, and I know that they all have potential,” he said. “They work hard, support one another and believe in themselves. That's the key to why we've been able to maintain this winning streak." The team's star players all attribute their success to Coach Stuckey and to their hard work and teamwork. They speak about being like a family out there, and that's what makes winning so special to them. They pray before every game and encourage each other on and off the court. The players state that Coach Stuckey pushes them to be their best in all aspects of life and he emphasizes that playing is more than just winning games. Moorhead Central School basketball has really brought the towns of Moorhead and Inverness together. Parents, fans and students have packed the stands for every game, cheering on their undefeated team and turning each home game into a community event.
