A Saturday evening incident at a home in the 600 block of Garrard Avenue has resulted in supposed non-life threatening injuries for a man and a woman.
According to an Indianola police report, officers were called to 623 Garrard Ave., shortly after 11 p.m., where they found two gunshot victims.
Preston Willard Jr, 38, is the reported suspect in connection with the January 23 shooting that left James Bradford, 38 and Tujulia Fleming, 28, with gunshot wounds to the leg.
Chief Edrick Hall said Fleming suffered two injuries. “Based on the statements, not only did the suspect shoot her, he also took the gun and hit her in the facial area,” said Hall. According to the Chief, when his officers arrived they found Fleming conscious, but with a cut on her head in addition to the leg wound.
They also found Bradford on a bed in a back bedroom with an injury to his leg. “Both officers on scene did a good job rendering aid, applying pressure until the emergency staff arrived,” said Hall. Bradford and Fleming were transported to area hospitals for treatment.
Hall said their preliminary investigation indicates that Willard and Fleming were apparently in a relationship. “It seemed to be an altercation that may be of a domestic situation to where the suspect knew the victim, who we believe were in a dating relationship with each other,” Hall said.
As of Tuesday afternoon, Willard was still at large and being sought by law enforcement officials. And the case is still under investigation.
