First Methodist Day School has implemented a new reading program for all its classrooms this school term. Parents, grandparents, and other relatives are just as excited for the chance to visit and read to their students each week.
Promoting reading, building vocabulary, connecting to the community, strengthening critical thinking, and seeing family are just a few of the reasons the teachers favor this initiative. Mystery reading is the best part of the day for the kiddos.
The pre-K5 class welcomed their mystery readers this past Wednesday. Drew and Diane McDowell shared with their grandson’s class by reading Pig the Pug and How to Catch a Loveosarus.
The McDowells agreed that reading is important. The couple offered listening ears, smiles, and hugs to this active and inquisitive bunch.
Mystery readers get to share their favorite books, bring sweet treats, and donate a signed copy of the books presented to the classroom library.
