_____
NATIONAL SUMMARY
Strong thunderstorms are expected to fire up tomorrow
afternoon from New England down into the Southeast. These
storms can bring intense downpours, damaging winds and even
isolated tornadoes. The area at the greatest risk for these
threats will be from central North Carolina to southern New
Jersey. Monsoonal thunderstorms will pop up across portions
of the Southwest as well, which could lead to localized
areas of flash flooding. Texas will continue to experience
extreme heat with temperatures in many places reading up to
10 degrees Fahrenheit above the historical average for this
time of year. With limited rainfall this will also worsen
drought conditions. The Pacific Northwest will also have
dangerous heat with Portland, Oregon, for example expected
to break into the triple digits.
