The Nation's Weather for Thursday, October 17, 2024
_____
NATIONAL SUMMARY
Widespread showers will dampen much of the Northwest and
Rockies tomorrow. Snow or a mix of rain and snow will fall
in the highest elevations of Washington, Oregon, Idaho,
Montana, Wyoming and Nevada. A spotty afternoon thunderstorm
will rumble in southern New Mexico and portions of West
Texas and South Texas. Most of the nation east of the
Mississippi River will be dry, with the exception of a
shower or two in the southeastern Florida Peninsula and in
the Florida Keys. King tides can lead to coastal flooding in
low-lying areas all along the Atlantic coast of Florida.
Unusually rough surf and rip currents could stir up the
water as far north as the Outer Banks. Although the morning
will still be chilly with a frost and freeze concern over
interior locations, the Northeast will begin to warm up.
