NATIONAL SUMMARY
A long-duration lake-effect snow event will ramp up
tomorrow. The heaviest snow will fall downwind of the Great
Lakes. Heavy snow can create dangerous whiteout travel
conditions along Interstate 90 between Buffalo, New York,
and Erie, Pennsylvania, and along I-81 between Syracuse and
Watertown, New York. A few snow showers can occur throughout
Michigan, including the panhandle, much of upstate New York
and Ohio, West Virginia and western Pennsylvania. An arctic
air mass, the coldest of the season so far, will advance
into the Midwest, Ohio River Valley and central Appalachians
from the Plains. The western United States will largely
remain dry and cool. The Southeast will turn cooler and less
humid and may be dry. However, there can be some spotty
showers throughout the Florida Peninsula.
