NATIONAL SUMMARY
A Santa Ana wind event is expected to produce 30- to 50-mph
gusts generally in Southern California tomorrow. The
foothills in downsloping areas can have regular gusts of 50
to 70 mph, up to 100 mph. These winds are expected to lead
to a heightened wildfire threat. Tree limbs and power lines
can come down, travel in crosswinds can be dangerous.
Otherwise, a winter storm is expected to slowly emerge from
the Sierra Madre in New Mexico and West Texas, especially
later in the day. It can bring snow showers and light
periods of snow to these areas, especially overnight. There
can be lake-enhanced snow showers in upstate New York, much
of Michigan and western Pennsylvania, northern Ohio and
Indiana into West Virginia. Much of the eastern two-thirds
of the nation will be cold.
