Which park do you like the best?
I grew up in a small town, and I hated it. It felt like there was never anything to do. These days it makes me laugh when I think about that. Because my nine year old son will come to me and say, "Daaaaaaaad! I'm bored, There's nothing to do." In my opinion, There is too much to do. Granted most of it is of a digital nature. But there are half a dozen parks around this town. There are bikes, skate boards, scooters, legos, hot wheels, and last but not least. We can't overlook one of the foundations of childhood playtime. The stick. It was a rifle, it was a sword, it was The staff that Robin Hood fought Little John with. That last one is from the 1973 Robin Hood cartoon movie. Not the 1991 travisty
Robin Hood Prince of Thieves. What was Kevin Costner thinking? I mean sure it did make 390 million dollars. Which to me begs a larger question. What was 1991 America thinking? But I digress. Back to the point I was making. As a parent with impressionable young children I love this small town. I would smooth out the roads a bit more. Maybe add a few sidewalks here and there. But for the most part I believe Indianola has got it just about right. So I'll ask you, Which is your favorite Indianola park, and why?
On the flipside. Which is your least favorite Indianola park, and why?
My favorite park is Bayou Park. Because of all of the giant beautiful shade trees. Minnie Cox is a close second because of that new playground equipment. But it's also on my least favorite list because of a sad fact. homelessness. That park seems to attract people who are down but not out. Thank God for the outreach programs in Sunflower county, and the churches of Indianola.
Have a great day neighbors
