Two towns in northern Sunflower County are a step closer to electing new municipal leaders for the next four years.
Unofficial results in Drew’s primary on Tuesday show Melanie Townsend-Blackmon with 187 votes to Jimmy Burchfield Jr.’s 78.

Bus and car collide, hydrant taken out

A Tuesday morning collision between a school bus and a car on U.S. Highway 82 resulted in one injury to a motorist and no reported serious harm to the 19 students aboard the bus.
