A long-standing dispute is said to be what fueled a shooting at a local gas station on Sunday night that left one man injured and led to the arrest of another.
Police took Kenneth Moore 40, 137 Brantley Circle, into custody and charged him with aggravated assault after Charson Moore 31, Sunflower told them that Kenneth shot him while he was pumping gas at the Double Quick store on B.B. King Road.
Kenneth appeared before Judge Kuykendal Murry on Tuesday and his bond was set at $50,000 with the stipulations that he commits no crime, no new crime and have no contact with the victim. The two are not related.
On Sunday, Charson was transported to the Delta Regional Medical Center in Greenville for treatment of a gunshot wound to the face after he drove himself to the police station according to Chief Edrick Hall. Charson told police that after Kenneth shot him, he ran for cover but returned to his vehicle a few minutes later and drove himself to the station.
The police report indicated that Kenneth and Charson have had multiple interactions in the past and that when Kenneth drove up to the store he saw Charson at the next pump and Charson allegedly raised up his shirt as if he was getting ready to pull out a weapon and asked Kenneth was he ready.
Kenneth then went into the trunk of his car, grabbed his .22 caliber handgun and shot at Charson. Kenneth told police he then left the store and threw the gun out at someone’s home on Coolidge Street.
Police searched for the weapon but were unable to find it.
