The investigation into the December death of 28-year-old Travis Shaw of Indianola is still ongoing and as of Friday two more arrests have been made in his homicide.
On Tuesday Indianola Police Chief Edrick Hall confirmed that Iradell Johnson III, 26, 122 North Davis Circle and Alfonso Waller Jr, 23, 1008 Highland Street, Belzoni have now been arrested in conjunction with that case. According to Hall both have been charged with conspiracy and first-degree murder.
Waller had his initial appearance before Judge Kuykendall Horne-Murry on Saturday and Johnson on Sunday. Both individuals’ bond was set at $500,000 and the preliminary hearings have been set for March 3 for Waller and March 10 for Johnson.
Ladarius Snipes, 23, also known as Noon, was originally arrested, charged with first-degree murder and issued a $1 million bond a few days after Shaw was discovered unresponsive alongside of the street near the intersection of Wiggins Road and Garrard Avenue, just steps from his home.
Hall said the latest arrests came after he, the investigators in his department, Sheriff James Haywood and the chief deputy all conferred and determined that there was cause for more people to be charged. He asserted that the investigation is still ongoing and he could not disclose any other information at this time.
According to Hall, the joint discussions with the sheriff’s department convinced them that further investigation into the case was needed. He said the two departments have been working together on the case, sharing information and comparing notes.
He added that there is a possibility that one or two more arrests could be forthcoming.
Additionally, Hall said that the two agencies will be meeting weekly to discuss open felony cases with the intent purpose of solving the crimes faster and forging closer work relations.
