The Mississippi Delta Community College men’s and women’s basketball schedules have been released, as part of the new format adopted by the Mississippi Association of Community Colleges Conference (MACCC). The revised schedule features 14 dates versus division competition only, and each college can play as many as eight non-divisional matchups, to their choosing.
In adhering to COVID-19 guidelines, the conference has also adopted a mirrored scheduling format, where one program (men’s or women’s) will host a division opponent, while the other program will hit the road to compete against the same college. For instance, on Jan. 21, the MDCC men’s program will play host to Itawamba Community College, while the Trojans women’s team will go to Fulton to play ICC.
This particular plan was put in place to limit the number of people entering and exiting a facility on a particular day, as well as cutting down on the number of those involved in traveling to an away site. The MACCC is currently still in the process of finalizing information in regards to fan capacity, who is allowed to come to home/away games, etc.
The Delta men’s team will have three out-of-conference games on Feb.4, Feb. 18 and March 4, while the women’s program will play the league mandated 14-game schedule. All MDCC home games are set to tip off at 6 p.m. and can be viewed on the college’s YouTube channel, which is found by searching “MDCC Sports Network.”
