Doctor and Mrs. Wade Dowell of Indianola announce the engagement of their daughter, Georgeana Christine Dowell, to Yvan Nieuwoudt, son of Mr. Naas Nieuwoudt of Hartswater, Republic of South Africa and Mr. and Mrs. Leonard Twigge of Vryburg, Republic of South Africa.
The bride-elect is the granddaughter of the late Mr. George Lee Dowell of Moorhead and the late Mrs. Patsy Logan of Carthage and Mrs. Bonita Roberts of Indianola and Mr. David Earl Roberts of Bay Saint Louis.
The prospective bridegroom is the grandson of the late Mr. and Mrs. Ignatius Nieuwoudt of Hartswater and Mrs. Helen De Klerk and the late Mr. Yvan De Klerk of Kuruman, Republic of South Africa.
Miss Dowell is a graduate of Indianola Academy. She received a bachelor’s degree in Communicative Disorders from The University of Mississippi where she was a member of Chi Omega sorority. Miss Dowell received a master’s degree in Speech Language Pathology from Jackson State University. She is currently employed as a speech pathologist at North Sunflower Medical Center in Ruleville.
Mr. Nieuwoudt is a graduate of the Agricultural School of the Northern Cape Province in the Republic of South Africa. He is currently employed as a professional hunter with Wintershoek Safaris. He received the South African Professional Hunter of the Year award in 2017. Mr. Nieuwoudt also owns and operates a cattle ranch in the Kalahari Desert.
The couple will exchange vows in Douglas, Republic of South Africa on May 23, 2020 in the presence of family and friends.
