At it most recent convening, the Sunflower County Grand Jury handed down four additional indictments on Indianola resident and businessman Timothy J. Jones. Jones who was arrested in January of 2018 on charges related to the December of 2017 burglary and fire that destroyed the Stauffer-Wood Administration Building on the campus of Mississippi Delta Community College was indicted on charges of burglary, first-degree arson, third-degree arson and grand larceny.
The indictments were signed and recorded on January 7 in the Sunflower County Circuit Clerk’s office. Jones was also indicted in May of 2018 on an unrelated charge of receiving, possessing and or disposing of stolen property.
In the filed court documents, Jones is accused of feloniously and burglariously breaking and entering into the Stauffer-Wood building on or about December 14 and setting the structure on fire.
Additionally, he is also charged with first-degree arson as it relates to that fire and additional counts of grand larceny for taking, stealing, and carrying away a white Dodge Caravan that belonged to the college and a third-degree arson charge that stems from the subsequent burning of that particular vehicle.
Jones’ arraignment is scheduled for February 4 at 2 p.m.
In addition to Jones’ indictments, the Grand Jury also handed down indictments on Louis Glenn for first-degree arson, Mariah Shedd for possession of stolen property, Donald Polk for possession of a stolen firearm, D’Martayvous Edwards for possession of firearm on school grounds, Bruce Leon Hillie Jr., for felony shoplifting, LaMarcus Conrod for credit card fraud.
Also included in the recent disclosures are: Kierre O’Neal for burglary of a dwelling, Kimberly Johnson for aggravated assault, Christopher Marshall for 3 counts of felony DUI and Rashad Snipes for aggravated assault—enhanced by a firearm, armed robbery—enhanced by firearm and burglary of a dwelling. Each is scheduled for arraignment on February 4.
