A special call meeting of the Indianola Board of Aldermen slated for Monday night had to be cancelled because the meeting was one alderman shy of a quorum.
One of the items on the agenda was a request to approve rescheduling the upcoming regular session set for Monday Nov. 12 because of the Veterans Day holiday.
City offices will be closed on Monday and according to Mayor Steve Rosenthal without the board meeting to reschedule that session it has to go on as originally planned.
Rosenthal said he wanted to propose an alternate date of Tuesday, Nov. 13 in order to avoid having city department heads and other employees disrupt their holiday. The non-salaried employees who are required to attend the meeting will not receive overtime compensation, but simply be paid for the eight hours of the holiday and the time spent at the meeting.
Only aldermen Gary Fratesi and Darrell Simpson showed up.
Other listed items on the agenda were a request to waive the loud noise ordinance for political candidate Ada Lindsey, which could not be permitted, approval to hire a part-time employee at the animal shelter and the approval to move a public works employee to the water department.
