Mid-Delta Arts Association is pleased to announce the upcoming production of the play “To Kill a Mockingbird.”
The play is an adaptation of Harper Lee’s Pulitzer Prize winning novel set in a small Alabama town during the Great Depression.
This timeless classic explores prejudice, compassion, and the courage to do what is right.
The play will be presented the last part of February with possible performances the first few days of March.
Auditions will be held at the Brindley Theater on the corner of Main St. and Sunflower Ave. Tryouts for children’s parts for this production will be held Saturday, Jan.4th at 2 p.m.
There are three children’s parts – two boys and one girl. Scout, the young girl, needs to be no younger than 10 years old. She may be older. Jem, Scout’s brother, is older than Scout. Dill, their friend, should be at least nine years old or a little older. He is younger and smaller than Jem, but his character is mature for his age.
Auditions for adult parts will be held Sun., Jan.5 at 2 p.m. and Mon., Jan. 6, at 7 p.m. at the Brindley theater.
Both African-American and Caucasian actors are needed.
The show will be directed by Mary Ruth Brindley (662-616-9099) and Leanne Silverblatt (662-347-2230).
Those interested who cannot attend these scheduled auditions should call one of the directors to schedule an alternate time. MDAA encourages volunteers not only to be on stage, but also to work with sets, props, costumes, and other areas of production.
