Mississippi Valley State University’s own Barbara Baymon will keynote the Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Birthday Celebration this year.
According to the event’s committee, Baymon will head up the 35th annual MLK Birthday Celebration Program this Sunday at 3 p.m. at Mount Beulah Missionary Baptist Church in Indianola.
There will also be musical selections by the First United Missionary Baptist Church Senior Choir and talents will be on display by students from area schools and community members.
Baymon currently serves as the Coordinator of Speech Communication and Director of Theater at Mississippi Valley State University.
After receiving a B.A. degree in Speech Communication from MVSU, she completed her Master of Arts degree in Speech Communication and Theater Arts from Arkansas State University and a Master of Arts in Teaching degree.
The MLK celebrations have been hosted in Indianola continuously since 1986 and annually celebrate the life and legacy of the Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.
The Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Birthday Celebration Committee invites everyone to attend the program, especially the youth.
