The 2019 Indianola Community Fund Drive has officially kicked off.
This is year No. 64 that the community fund has existed and helped multiple organizations and causes within the community.
The goal for this year’s drive is $30,000.
The Community Fund is a non-profit organization designed to channel Indianola's energies and resources to help others in need.
“We ask you to consider making a donation to this worthwhile fund that helps many in our area throughout the year,” said Cherri Kirk , director of Indianola Chamber Main Street. “You can mail your donation to Indianola Chamber Main Street, P.O. Box 151, Indianola or drop it off at the Chamber office at 112 MLK Dr. South.”
Organizations interested in being considered for funds can submit an application. Applications can be picked up at the Chamber office or emailed upon request. Please call the Chamber at 887-4454 for further information.
On top of supporting these organizations, ranging from 4-H Clubs and Extension Service to City Youth Activities, the Community Fund provides scholarships to local seniors at both Gentry High School and Indianola Academy.
Other organizations and groups supported by the Community Fund are the Bill Richardson Civic Alliance, Community Assistance, Community Counseling Center, the Henry M. Seymour Library, Indianola Baseball Activities, Lifeline and the Local Boy Scouts.
Money given to the Community Fund will be handled by an executive committee, which will review applications from participating organizations.
