Indianola Chamber Main Street is calling for Community Fund donors to consider making their contributions in the next few weeks, leading up to the disbursement of scholarships and funding for area organizations.
Anyone can donate to the Community Fund at anytime, but ICMS Director Cherri Kirk said that most of the money collected during this year’s drive will be distributed to multiple organizations and area students at the end of February.
So far, the Chamber has collected $6,800 of its goal $30,000 goal.
This is the 64th year of the Community Fund drive.
On top of supporting organizations, ranging from 4-H Clubs and Extension Service to City Youth Activities, the Community Fund provides scholarships to local seniors at both Gentry High School and Indianola Academy.
Other organizations and groups supported by the Community Fund are the Bill Richardson Civic Alliance, Community Assistance, Community Counseling Center, the Henry M. Seymour Library, Indianola Baseball Activities, Lifeline and the Local Boy Scouts.
