The Sunflower County road department is undergoing some reconstruction.
During an announced executive session Monday morning, the Sunflower County Board of Supervisors voted unanimously to relegate current road mangers Todd Rickles and Kirby Chambers to assistant road managers and replace them with T.J. Fairley as of Nov. 1.
Gloria McIntosh, county administrator/chancery clerk, said Fairley will serve as road manager for the entire county for now, until the board determines what is the best course of action moving forward.
Fairley is presently employed by the county and had previously served as a manager.
No other positions within the department were affected as a result of Monday’s decision.
However, the county is seeking a new solid waste clerk after being notified that the current clerk, Clara Phillips, is resigning.
A job posting is published in this week’s edition of the Enterprise-Tocsin.
