Turnrow CrossFit hosted its fourth Memorial Day “Murph” workout, with nearly two dozen showing up at 9 a.m. that morning for the feat.
While many on Memorial Day morning were getting ready to fire up the grill or hit the lake, several dedicated CrossFit enthusiasts in Indianola were putting their skills to the test in homage of a fallen soldier.
Each year, crossfit gyms across the country do a workout which has been termed “The Murph” in honor of Lieutenant Michael P. Murphy, who was killed in Afghanistan in June 2005.
Indianola’s Turnrow CrossFit has been doing “The Murph” on Memorial Day since it opened in 2015.
The workout consists of a one-mile run to start, 100 pullups, 200 pushups, 300 squats and a one-mile run to finish.
This year’s group in Indianola was the largest yet to turnout for the workout.
