The Delta Invitational Tournament surpassed $750,000 in donations to the American Cancer Society in 2017.
Now in its 43rd year, the DIT is looking toward getting closer to $800,000 over four-plus decades. This year, the DIT is partnering with Delta Cotton Belles, a non-profit that has provided a variety of cancer-related services to individuals across 10 Mississippi and Arkansas counties, including Sunflower County.
“I’m extremely excited to announce our partnership with Delta Cotton Belles this year,” said Grant Phillips, tournament co-chairman. “This oustanding local organization serves so many needs for women here in the Mississippi Delta, and we are excited to have them as part of the team in this year’s tournament.”
This year’s event will be held May 5 at the Indianola Country Club.
The tournament includes three competitions, bridge, tennis and golf. The event will culminate with dinner and dancing, starting at 6:30 p.m. at the Country Club.
“After so much rain this month, we hope we are due for some wonderful spring weather for the 2018 DIT,” Grant Phillips, tournament co-chairman, said in a statement. “We are looking forward to another fun-filled day of competition with our tennis, golf, and bridge participants as we continue to contribute towards the fight against cancer.”
Individuals can register to participate in bridge, tennis or golf at www.deltainvitational.com. Those not wishing to participate but planning to attend the dinner can print the registration form there as well. Donations can also be made by those who cannot attend any of the events that day.
