Double Quick Inc., a Mississippi leader in convenience stores, gasoline, and fast food is supporting educational achievement in Sunflower County by donating $2500.00 in gas cards to the Sunflower County Freedom Project.
The SCFP is a 22-year-old nonprofit organization providing after school and summer enrichment programs to 7th-12th grade students in Sunflower County.
Through this partnership with Double Quick, the SCFP will be able to continue to serve students throughout the county by providing transportation to all daily programming and for educational travel throughout the year. Freedom Fellows, as students in the program are called, commit to additional academic and college-prep courses and earn the opportunity to travel on college visits, trips to cultural and civil rights sites, chess competitions, and weeklong trips over school vacations.
“We are grateful for Tom and Walton Gresham and Bill McPherson’s long-time support and their community-first approach to business,” said executive director of the SCFP, Kate Gluckman. “With Double Quick’s help, the SCFP will be able to continue serving our talented students in Sunflower County with the mission of seeing them to and through college. Our ability to travel and show students all that Mississippi and the South has to offer is a critical piece in their preparation for a successful life.”
Tom Gresham, president of Double Quick said, “We are proud to partner with the Freedom Project and are grateful for all they do for youth in Sunflower County in helping them prepare for college and beyond.”
The Freedom Project is beginning their spring programming and has openings in their middle school and high school programming. For more information about programming at the SCFP or how to sign up a student, please call 662.569.2441.
