Clients at the Delta Care Hope Foundation Center on U.S. 82 recently received a visit from Sgt. Willie Rounds who gave a special talk and demonstration on the importance of fire safety that included important safety tips about what not to do when it comes to preventing fires at their home.
The tips included things such as don't store gasoline containers near a hot water tank unit, don’t use a dryer until you are sure it's free of lint and never leave it running or on while away from home.
He also reportedly told them not to store oily rags in a hazardous environment and also make sure if they experience a grease fire on the stove don't use water, but have an ABC Fire extinguisher, baking soda or flour to snuff out the flames.
Lastly, they were informed of the importance of the firefighter’s personal protective equipment and the importance of smoke detectors.
