Two persons sought by local law enforcement officials are now in custody. On Monday, Sunflower Police Chief Louis Baymon reported that Detriss Landford 19, wanted in connection with at least two shootings in Sunflower and Indianola, was in the Sunflower County jail.
Landford was reportedly arrested on Sunday through a conjoined effort by law enforcement agencies in Sunflower, Indianola and Moorhead including the Sunflower County Sheriff’s department.
He said Landford was captured at a house on Bellevue Drive in Indianola after he was spotted in Sunflower and followed from there.
Police had issued aggravated assault and aggravated assault with a deadly weapon warrants for his arrest due to his alleged involvement in an April 15 shooting in Sunflower and a May 3 shooting in Indianola. The arrest report also indicated that he was charged with contempt of court and displaying a weapon.
Landford reportedly had his initial appearance on Tuesday and was given a “no bond” status. His preliminary appearance is set for July 2.
In addition, Erica Shyrese Hodges 23, 505 Chandler Street was reportedly arrested on Thursday and charged with armed robbery, two counts of simple assault with bodily injury, malicious mischief, resisting arrest and failure to comply with the request of an officer.
Police Sergeant Irish Johnson said officers on patrol spotted Hodges and when she saw them, she ran and jumped several fences, but was not able to get away.
Hodges had her initial appearance on Tuesday and was given a $100,000 bond and a preliminary appearance court date of June 4.
