Last Saturday at 1:57 p.m., an armed gunman held up the front desk clerk at the Indianola Hampton Inn and reportedly got away with $750 in cash.
Lt. Johnny Bland said the man came into the hotel, passed the clerk a letter to read and when she looked up he was pointing a gun at her.
Bland said the robber declared that he was not playing and he wanted all of the money.
He supposedly left the establishment on foot, but witnesses said he possibly got out of a 2017 black Chevrolet Impala or Malibu. Bland said the medium build, dark complexion man, who looked to be about 5-foot 11-inches tall, was wearing a black t-shirt, black cap with red lettering and carrying what was described as a camouflage backpack.
Bland said the clerk did not recognize the man and video footage is still being reviewed. He indicated that the person could have been someone just passing through, but they are working to enhance the video to achieve facial recognition.
Indianola Police Chief Edrick Hall said he is working in conjunction with the Sunflower County Sheriff’s Department in order to help solve the case.
If anyone has information about the robbery they are encouraged to call the Indianola police at 662-887-1811 or make the call to Crimestoppers for a possible reward for information that leads to a conviction.
