The town of Inverness is close to getting its first Dollar General store.
According to Angela Petkovic, a spokesperson for Dollar General, the company is currently in the due diligence phase of securing a site for the store.
“This means we are reviewing the opportunity to add a new store in the area, but we have not committed to doing so just yet,” Petkovic said in a statement to The E-T. “A part of our due diligence phase includes securing all necessary permits to ensure that we can move forward with a project should we decide to at the conclusion of that process.”
Petkovic said a final decision should be coming later this fall.
“When choosing store locations, meeting customers’ needs is Dollar General’s top priority,” she said. “The company looks for places where we can offer customers an easy and convenient shopping choice. We know convenience is a major factor in our customers' shopping decisions as we generally serve customers within a three to five mile radius, or 10-minute drive. We also take demographic trends, competitive factors, traffic patterns and community concerns into consideration.”
She said that if a store were to open in Inverness, it would employ between six and 10 people, depending on the individual needs of the store.
Aside from the large distribution plant in Indianola, Dollar General currently has retail locations in Indianola, Moorhead, Sunflower and Ruleville.
