LIFE of Mississippi (Living Independence For Everyone) held an open house at its office in Indianola on Tuesday and invited the public to come tour the facility and find out about their services.
According to Pamela Wraggs, Supervisor, LIFE Evaluation & Training Coordinator, the office moved to its present location from Greenwood and although they have been here since October 2018, this is their first open house.
The purpose of LIFE of Mississippi is to empower people who have significant disabilities so they can become as independent and fully involved in their community as he or she can or want to be through its services and independent living specialists.
Shanekia Kemp and Wilda Simpson are the specialists for the Indianola office.
Life’s objectives are to supply information and make referrals, furnish peer support, render advocacy and self-advocacy support, provide skills training, assist individuals in transitioning out of institutions and providing or coordinating equipment related to independent living.
LIFE is headquartered in Jackson and in addition to Indianola, has offices in Tupelo, Hattiesburg, Biloxi and McComb.
