Mid-Delta Arts Association’s first presentation for 2020 will open in Indianola on Thursday, February 27 at 7 pm.
TO KILL A MOCKINGBIRD is based on the 1960 novel by Harper Lee.
The play opens in a sleepy Alabama town in the midst of the Great Depression, where Scout and her brother Jem, live with their widowed father, Atticus Finch.
Directors Mary Ruth Brindley and Leanne Silverblatt announced the cast for the upcoming production. Jean Louise Finch, Narrator-Katie Mills, Scout Finch- Sarah Hendon, Jem Finch- Reed Terrell, Atticus Finch- Johnny McWilliams, Calpurnia-Carolyn McCarty, Maudie Athinson- Anna Mitchell, Stephanie Crawford- Alison Grant, Mrs. Dubose-Vicki Kite, Nathan Radley- Daniel Ronhovde, Arthur Radley (B00)-Johnny Marshall, Dill-William Mills, Heck Tate-Robert Sledge, Judge Taylor-Tim Pyles, Reverend Sykes-Herron Wilson, Mayella Ewell-Carolyn Kelley, Bob Ewell-Doug Adams, Walter Cunningham-Darrell Simpson, Mr. Gilmer-Hank Ferguson, Tom Robinson-Adoris Turner,II and Helen Robinson-Sherby Hale.
“Practice is underway and we have a great cast,” said Mrs. Brindley. “Our theater is excited about bringing this important production to the Delta,” continued Mrs. Silverblatt. The movie, TO KILL A MOCKINGBIRD, was produced in 1962 and it opened on Broadway in 2018.
The play runs for five performances, February 27-29 at 7 pm, Sunday, March 1 at 2 pm and March 2 at 7 pm at the Brindley Theater in Indianola.
