Another special call meeting of the Indianola Board of Alderman failed to launch on Tuesday as only the mayor and one city leader showed up.
Ward 1 alderman Gary Fratesi was the lone lawmaker in attendance as another attempt was made to handle city business.
This was the third attempt to move forward on the same agenda.
The items were first included on July 13, but three of the aldermen left the session before any could be acted upon. The items were again scheduled for a July 17 special call meeting, but there was no quorum and on Tuesday there was still a lack of a voting assemblage.
Mayor Steve Rosenthal said on Tuesday that he had hoped to be able to at least make approval on the resolution regarding the lease-purchase agreement for buying the city’s new fire truck, which is ready and waiting to be delivered.
It was noted that Ward 2 alderman Darrell Simpson would be late due to a prior agreement and Rosenthal said Ward 4 alderman Marvin Elder had informed him that he would not be able to attend.
The mayor reportedly called Ward 3 Alderman Ruben Woods while meeting participants were waiting to start, but the dialog of that call was not clear. However, Rosenthal did announce that he was ending the videoconferencing session after hanging up. Ward 5 alderman Sam Brock was a no-show.
