An Indianola man who decided to take a boat tour of the Sunflower River is safe after being out on the water overnight.
According to rescue workers, Rob Miller’s family became concerned after he didn’t return home after a friend dropped him and his dog off in the small boat.
Stan Bennett of Sunflower County Search and Rescue said he got a call around 11:06 a.m. Tuesday morning and immediately mobilized his team. Miller was located at 3:36 p.m. near Delta City in Sharkey County by a search plane according to Bennett and was out of gas.
Delta City is about 40 miles from Indianola by car and following the winding path of the Sunflower River won’t likely put it any closer.
Miller supposedly started his voyage around 4 p.m. on Monday but wasn’t at the pickup location when his friend returned to get him Bennett saidl
Mississippi Wildlife and Fisheries game wardens were called in to assist with the rescue and Bennett said officials had plans to assist Miller out of the water near the rear of the Anguilla Country Club.
