The Sunflower County Library System presents the 2020 Summer Library Program.
The benefits to a summer reading program include: (1) encouragement that reading become a lifelong habit, (2) reluctant readers can be drawn in by the activities, (3) reading over the summer helps children keep their skills up, and (4) the program can generate interest in the library and books.
And it being summer, the program can just be good fun and provide an opportunity for family time.
The 2020 theme is “Imagine Your Story.”
This year’s program is based on fairy tales, myths, and fantasy.
So, if anyone wants to learn a new craft, participate in story time or enjoy a performance then join us for virtual fun and outdoor adventures this summer and “Imagine Your Story.”
Be sure to visit our Henry M. Seymour Library Facebook page to get the latest updates on library services or at the Sunflower County Library YouTube Channel.
Join us for Magic Lessons with Daniel Lusk, Magician on July 1, 6, 8, 13, 15, & 20, 2020 with a Magic Show on July 22, 2020. Be sure to visit and subscribe to our Sunflower County Library YouTube Channel to participate with this virtual program.
Participate in "The Great Prenda Code Challenge" for 2020. Kids can sign up and work on building an awesome coding project all summer. At the end of the summer, projects will be evaluated, and prizes awarded to the top projects around the country. To get started, log onto the Sunflower County Library System's website @ www.sunflower.lib.ms.us/sunflower/about.asp to access Prenda's URLs. They are located on the Web Links page under the Children’s Sites section. Let’s create something awesome!
Like solving Jigsaw Puzzles?
Doing jigsaw puzzles reinforces connections between brain cells, improves mental speed and is an especially effective way to improve short-term memory. Log onto the Henry M. Seymour Library Facebook page on Tuesdays and Thursdays in July for your Virtual Jigsaw Puzzle.
“Grab and Go” craft and activity bags can be picked up bi-monthly at any branch of the Sunflower County Library System. The first pick up is June 29, 2020. Please call the branch nearest you for availability.
