The man who is being held as a person of interest in the Mississippi Delta Community College December arson case - who also led officers on a chase last Friday before being apprehended - could be facing additional charges related to a stolen motorcycle.
The Enterprise-Tocsin has discovered through police reports that Timothy Jermel Jones, the Indianola business owner currently being held in connection with the Dec. 14 arson and burglary incident that resulted in substantial damage to MDCC’s Stauffer-Woods administration building and the destruction of an MDCC vehicle, is the lead suspect in the theft of a red Suzuki GX1300R Hayabusa motorcycle.
Robbery appears to have been at least a partial motive in the MDCC incident.
Thousands of dollars worth of equipment were reported missing from MDCC’s administration building after the fire.
The E-T has also confirmed through investigators that Jones once served one year and one day in a Madison County facility after a 2011 conviction of burglary of a dwelling.
The bike in question was found at Jones’ residence while the police were assisting the Mississippi Bureau of Investigation in serving a search warrant in connection with the MDCC case.
The bike was allegedly recovered from the rear of his home at 319 West Augusta Street. Jones is a renter at this property.
Police ran the VIN numbers and determined that it had been reported stolen in Madison County.
Officials contacted the Madison County authorities who verified the claim.
Charges are expected to be filed in this case.
MBI also served a search warrant on Jones’ 224 U.S. 82 business, TJ’s Photography. It is undetermined what was recovered from that search at this time.
