An Indianola man wanted on several outstanding warrants, including a charge of attempted murder out of Arkansas, was recently arrested during a traffic stop in Smith County, Texas.
Texas State Troopers stopped Laderrius Thornton, 22, on Interstate 20 in Smith County and determined he had outstanding warrants. Thornton’s last recorded Indianola address was listed as 205 Alexander Ave.
Although Thornton has had some run-ins with the local police, Indianola police Sgt. Irish Johnson said Thornton currently only has an outstanding charge for burglary.
However, according to a Tyler, Texas newspaper, court records show that Thornton is wanted on warrants out of Ashley County, Arkansas, for criminal attempt to commit murder, aggravated robbery, kidnapping and theft of property valued at less than $1,000.
Thornton is reportedly wanted in connection with a shooting in Portland, Arkansas that occurred on Oct. 20, 2017.
He had been on the run until Texas authorities pulled him over during the traffic stop.
He reportedly will be sent to Ashley County to face prosecution and will likely face another charge for failing to identify himself as a fugitive.
