The North Sunflower Academy Rebels football team is in near-dire need of the open date their schedule offers this week.
With injuries continuing to plague an already small roster, NSA Head Coach Jacob Henley welcomes the break.
“We lost two more players Friday night to injuries, so the open date will hopefully give us some to time to regroup and recover,” he noted.
The 1-4 Rebels’ next opponent will be an October 3 matchup against Lee Academy of Marianna, Arkansas.
That upcoming home-field clash with the Cougars will also serve as NSA’s final non-district game of the regular season.
As for their latest outing last Friday night, the Rebels experienced a tough night of football.
Playing at the school located in West Helena, Arkansas, the Rebels fell by a 60-6 score to the DeSoto School Thunderbirds.
The defending state champion Thunderbirds improved their record to a 3-1 mark after they struck early and went to intermission owning a 52-0 lead.
However, it would be a fourth period 2-yard touchdown run by Omarion Williams which would enable the Rebels to spoil the Thunderbirds’ shutout bid.
