Services for Marjorie Kay West will be held at 11 a.m. Friday at West Drew Baptist Church, Drew.
Marjorie died Saturday, April 23, 2022, at the age of 72 at Delta Rehabilitation and Healthcare Center of Cleveland. She was born at the Bolivar County Hospital on Oct. 7, 1949, to John Quincy and Laura Nell Bibb West. She was a graduate of Drew High School, Clarke College and Delta State University before feeling the call to serve at Baptist Children’s Village. Kay considered Drew as home, but was a Baptist Children’s Village house parent for 40 years (1976-2016) until she retired. She served at cottages in Clinton, Water Valley and Independence. Although she had no children of her own, she was a parent to many and won many to the Lord Jesus Christ. She was a member of West Drew Baptist Church.
She was preceded in death by her parents, John Quincy West and Laura Nell Bibb West of Drew.
Marjorie is survived by two sisters, Carol West Bingham (Jerry) of Ripley and Janie West Gray (Randy) of Drew; and two brothers, John Ray West (Debra) of Drew and Drake “Eddie” West of Boaz, Ala. She was a beloved aunt to many nieces and nephews as well as a great-aunt to their children.
Visitation will be held from 10 a.m. until service time Friday at the church. The Rev. Jerry Bingham will officiate at the services. Pallbearers will be nephews and friends. Burial will be in Drew Cemetery.
