Alberto Arriaga, 76, of Leland, passed away Sunday, April 14, 2024, at Delta Health – The Medical Center in Greenville.
Alberto was born Dec. 17, 1947, in Rolling Fork, to Maria Gutierrez Arriaga and Joe Arriaga. He graduated high school at The Mississippi School for the Deaf in Jackson. Alberto worked as a farm worker for many years prior to his retirement. He was a member of God’s Harvest Church of God in Indianola. Alberto was a jack-of-all-trades; he could do anything he put his mind to. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, working in his garden, tending to his chickens, and just being outside. He loved his family, especially his kids and grandkids and enjoyed the time they spent together.
Alberto was preceded in death by his parents, Maria and Joe Arriaga; son, Lynn Arriaga; brother, Emmanuel Harris; two sisters, Patsy Coe and Dominga Harris; and grandson, Lynn Arriaga.
He is survived by five sons, Lee Stewart of Colorado, James “JoJo” Arriaga of Leland, Tony Arriaga of Louisiana, and Mikey Arriaga and Robert Arriaga, both of Texas; four daughters, Angela Steptoe of Clarksville, Tenn., Sonya Barnes of Rolling Fork, Carolyn Smith of Illinois, and Alberta Cupit of Brookhaven; one sister, Flora Cole of Vicksburg; 28 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren; and close nieces and nephews, the Harris and Agado families.
Visitation will be held from 1 p.m. until 2 p.m. Friday, April 19, at Burton Funeral Home in Indianola. The funeral service will begin at 2 p.m. Burton Funeral Home of Indianola has been entrusted with arrangements.
